Update from Meeting on 1/20

Hey Everyone!

Here is a list of things that were discussed in the last NAEA Meeting:

1. 7 days Mural

Feb 7-18

Tennessee St by Target Copy, there is a blank wall that FSU owns and is allowing us to use for the mural. 

We have been asked by Dave to pass the word along to schools about the Mural, if you can please ask any supervising teachers or friends who are teachers to tell their students to come to the mural.

I was told it will be a timeline of Tallahassee but I have not seen the design.

I promise the mural painting is super easy if you have never worked on one before or if you are not the best painter (like me).

Also as a group or the people who showed up to the meeting, we have decided to go as a group to work on the mural on Feb 9 then to Tomahawk afterwards for dinner and drinks.

Please join us if you can, I know working on the mural last year was a lot of fun and I can only imagine it will be even better this year. 

2. Fundraising

We have decided to do some fundraising at Market Wednesdays in the Student Union.

Feb 6 and Feb 13

We will be selling valentines day type things.

We will need help making the things we sell so I have created yet another doodle to set up a time when some of us can get together to make some valentines.

If you have materials you can donate to the cause that would be wonderful.

We will most likely be working on this at someones apartment since the WJB building is not open on the weekends unless we decide to get together on a friday.

Also we will need help manning the booth on those wednesdays. If you are available and willing to help please email me. :)

3. Community Service

We have discussed doing some community service as a group, we have talked to HOPE Communities about having an art class for the kids and/or families that live in the community.

But we are very open to suggestions if you know of a place were we could do some volunteer work.

We would love it if more people could get involved on a daily basis! 

FAEA Conference: Who's going?

This year the FAEA conference will be held in St. Petersburg, Florida, and will be held November 8th-11th. Lizz would like to get a head count of the people that are going and maybe going. If you plan on attending the conference or maybe plan on attending, please leave a comment below. Also, you can leave a comment about travel accommodations if needed. (* Lizz will be leaving Wednesday afternoon after her student teaching.)

Lizz and Dorothy are presenting Thursday.

Lizz, Dorothy and Michael and Adriane are presenting Friday.

Jeff and his wife as well as Adriane are presenting on Saturday.

Chapter Minutes 9/30/12

Here are the things that we talked about yesterday. We hope to see everyone at the next meeting(Oct. 14th @ 4pm)!

 NAEA Chapter Meeting 9/30/2012

1. FAEA

• COGS reimbursement money: fill out application, needs to be signed by Yolanda
• needs to be done this week: register, print out receipt, bring it with you for proof
• covers registration, food, gas and hotel: up to $100 if not presenting
• Registration ends 9/19 
• Thursday-Sunday, Saturday is the biggest day for presenting
• Lizz and Dorothy are presenting on Thursday
• Michael, Lizz and Dorothy are presenting on Friday
• Jeff and his wife are presenting Saturday

1. Hope Communities

• Orientation: everyone interested in volunteering needs to attend
• Tuesday from 5-6 pm, maybe October 16th or Wednesday the 17th

1. Fundraising

• First Friday: waiting for a response to email/phone call
• Game day: face painting?

• Want to get together just to get together?

• Changing the Exec board from “Co-Presidents” to “President”
• Add statement about “educating community” (Hope Communities), giving back to the community through art

• “Hope Communities” (homeless program) maybe on weekends?

1. Dues

• $10 for the year

• Register $45/student (needs to be an FAEA member)
